AEHTMA grants DANA
The DANA grant scheme for affected shops, farms, businesses and hospitality establishments was published yesterday. Attached is a summary of the key points for tourism businesses, along with the published document. We are currently clarifying key issues to advise you on whether you meet the eligibility criteria, as these are not clearly defined and we do not wish to raise false hopes or ask you to gather documentation without any guarantee. €10,000 in aid for tourism and hospitality establishments affected by the DANA
Decree 174/2026, published on 26 October, sets out aid to help revive businesses affected by the floods of 18 and 19 October 2026. These are the most relevant points for the tourism and hospitality sector:
1. Amount: €10,000 per affected establishment
The grant is a fixed amount: it is not calculated based on the value of the damage. A company with several establishments may apply for it for each one, provided they individually meet the requirements.
The tourism sector fund initially has €1 million available, to be distributed between 2026 and 2027.
Includes hospitality and tourist accommodation
The tourism scheme covers restaurants, cafés, bars, accommodation and travel agencies, provided that their activity falls under IAE groups 671 to 676, 681 to 687 or headings 755.1 and 755.2.
It is advisable to check the establishment’s IAE classification: simply carrying out a tourism-related activity does not in itself guarantee that it is included.
1. It is not essential to have suffered physical damage
Eligibility applies when the DANA has caused any of the following circumstances:
- Damage to the premises, facilities, machinery, furniture, goods or other assets that has prevented or hindered operations.
- Interruption, suspension or effective restriction of business activity as a result of the flooding.
Therefore, a tourism business may be eligible for support even if it has not suffered material damage, provided it can demonstrate that it has been effectively affected and that this is directly linked to the flooding. Simply being located in an eligible municipality is not sufficient.
Municipalities in the Marina Alta region included
Dénia, Xàbia, Pego, l’Atzúbia, els Poblets, el Verger, Ondara, Beniarbeig, Orba, la Vall d’Ebo, la Vall de Gallinera and la Vall de Laguar.
The decree also includes municipalities in the Safor region and allows for the territorial list to be updated.
Main requirements
- To be registered on the business register and to have been actively carrying out business activities at the time the DANA occurred.
- To lawfully have a physical premises in one of the included municipalities. Businesses operating from rented premises may also apply.
- To provide evidence of the impact suffered.
- Continue trading or undertake to resume trading in the Valencian Community within six months of the grant being awarded, unless there are duly justified objective impediments.
A temporary closure caused by the DANA does not prevent an application from being made. The decree provides for an exception for individuals regarding compliance with tax and Social Security obligations.
Deadline and submission
From 2 November 2026 at 09:00 to 1 February 2027 at 23:59.
Applications must be submitted exclusively online, including those from self-employed individuals, using the form made available on the Generalitat’s online portal.
Applications will be processed in the order in which they are submitted, provided they are complete or have been duly rectified, until the budget has been exhausted. It is advisable to prepare the documentation before the application period opens.
Documentation and supporting evidence
Applicants will be required to provide details of the business owner and the premises, the cadastral reference, the IAE (Economic Activities Tax), statutory declarations, a bank account registered with the Generalitat, and documentation proving the impact of the disaster: photographs, municipal reports, emergency response records or insurance documentation, amongst other evidence.
There is no requirement to provide evidence of €10,000 in invoices or to submit a definitive financial assessment of the damage. However, applicants must demonstrate that the business was genuinely affected.
Compatibility with insurance and other grants
These grants are compatible with other grants and with compensation from insurance companies or the Consortium, subject to the applicable limits and ensuring that the same items are not funded twice. Receiving an insurance payout does not automatically reduce this grant.
Furthermore, the de minimis aid limit applies: €300,000 per single undertaking over any three-year period, taking into account linked undertakings where applicable. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, WE CAN ONLY SUBMIT APPLICATIONS ON YOUR BEHALF THROUGH AEHTMA IF WE HAVE YOUR DIGITAL SIGNATURE OR IF YOU ARE LISTED AS A REPRESENTATIVE IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY’S REGISTER OF REPRESENTATIVES.
